Often I get asked the question 'Why do I need to learn this maths, when will I ever need to use it'? I tend to say you may never need to use the maths being learnt but you will need to use some of it. I believe learning maths should develop your logic and thought process, your questioning skills, your communication and discussion skills, your understanding of other peoples numbers and figures. I prefer learners to discuss how they got to an answer (right or wrong) rather than just worrying about getting it right. By developing all these skills you are more likely to get to the correct answer and understand what it means.
Maths should be enjoyed and not feared. www.maths321.co.uk is the support site for David's learners. Getoncourse for success with David's Maths. (part of www.initlearning.net)
